Brenda Burgess, Professional Editor.

I’m a freelance editor and language practitioner with twelve years’ experience in the field. During this time, I have edited a wide variety of material including non-fiction and academic theses for EMBA, MA and PhD students of various disciplines. I also work on fiction, poetry and memoirs. I work as a freelance editing consultant for The Centre for the Book (CFB), a National Library community publishing initiative[1] which promotes first-time authors throughout South Africa and I regularly review and edit manuscripts for the CFB.

My qualifications include a BA in Creative Writing (UNISA) and a postgraduate short course in Editing Methodology and Practice from Stellenbosch University.

On the odd occasion when I'm not editing, I'll be in my kitchen making a tasty meal or maybe biscuits for my husband and myself. Or I might be reading a novel, or hiking in my new trainers.

Editing, which began as a part-time hobby, has now become a full-time occupation and I couldn't be happier!
